titleOfInvention | 3-amino-1,2,4-triazines and the preparation thereof |
abstract | The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:1000661/C2/1> wherein R is a p-nitrophenyl, 5-nitrothienyl or 5-nitrofuryl group, R1 and R2 are hydrogen atoms or methyl groups, and R3 and R4 are hydrogen atoms or acyl groups, and salts thereof and their preparation by reacting a compound of the general formula <FORM:1000661/C2/2> <FORM:1000661/C2/3> wherein R is p-nitrophenyl, 5-nitrothienyl or 5-nitrofuryl group, R1 and R2 are hydrogen atoms or methyl groups, R11 and R111 are hydrogen or alkyl groups and R3 and R4 are hydrogen atoms, alkyl or acyl groups with a basic compound at a pH from 4.0 to 12.0 and, if desired, forming an acid addition salt with an appropriate acid. The invention also includes the process wherein the compound of Formula III is formed by heating an acetone guanyl hydrazone of Formula II, in the form of the free base a salt thereof or a mixture of the free base and salt, in the presence of an acid salt of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal or a mixture transformable thereto at a pH between 3.0 and 4.5.ALSO:Water is sterilized by adding 3-amino-6-(51-nitrofurylethenyl) triazine-(1,2,4)-hydrochloride.ALSO:Articles, e.g. babies' paper napkins and men's socks, are prevented from putrefaction by treatment or impregnation with a compound of the general formula <FORM:1000661/A5-A6/1> or a salt thereof, wherein R is a p-nitro-phenyl, 5-nitrothienyl or 5-nitrofuryl group, R1 and R2 are hydrogen atoms or methyl groups and R3 and R4 are hydrogen atoms. Alkyl or acyl groups. |
