[Also in Division C3] A catalyst comprises a compound of a metal of Gps. IV to VIII and a co-ordination complex of nickel and a cyclo-poly-olefin having a ring containing at least 6 atoms of carbon. Said compound is preferably a halide e.g. chloride of a metal of Groups IVa, Va or VIa. Examples of said compound are TiCl 4 , TiCl 3 , TiBr 4 , Til 4 , TiF 4 , ZrCl 4 , VCl 4 , MoCl 5 , FeCl 3 , NiCl 2 , SnCl 4 and SbCy 5 . Examples of the nickel complex are given. |
