982,991. Reciprocating pumps; raising liquids. Soc. Anon. DES ATELIERS ET CHANTIERS DE LA SAINE-MARITIME,andJ. GUILHEM. March 20, 1961 [March 22, 1960; Oct. 3, 1960; Dec. 13, 1960], No. 10024/61. Headings F1A and F1R. [Also in Divisions B5 and F4] A heat insulated drying pump for removing the last traces of liquid methane from the storage container 1, Fig. 8, comprises a floating piston of foamed plastic material 77, 77a Fig. 9 supported by a metal bowl 76 from which hangs a chain 84 and a ball 85 controlling an inlet port 88 through which liquid methane from a supply line 87 enters by gravity thereby raising the float until said point 88 is closed by the ball 85. The downward stroke of the piston is effected by a pulse of nitrogen gas from a source 72 controlled by an electric pulsator 73 whereby liquid methane is forced up a valved delivery line 89; return flow through line 87 being prevented by a check valve 75. |
