CATALYTIC PROCESS FOR SYNTHESIS OF MUCONIC ACID |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a process for the synthesis of muconic acid by oxidative cleavage of catechol using an oxidizing mixture consisting of formic acid and hydrogen peroxide, in a molar ratio of formic acid to peroxide d hydrogen from 2.5: 1 to 15: 1, in the presence of an iron-based metal catalyst, and the recovery of the muconic acid thus formed. |
