abstract The present invention firstly relates to a process for transiently transforming germinated seeds of Lactuca sativa. Said method of transient transformation of germinated seeds of Lactuca sativa comprises the setting in condition of germination, in the dark, seeds of Lactuca sativa, to generate sprouts, followed by putting in contact of said seeds sprouted with a suspension of Agrobacterium tumefaciens transformed with one or more nucleic acid sequence (s) comprising a gene of interest, then applying to the mixture comprising the germinated seeds and the suspension of Agrobacterium tumefaciens a mechanical treatment comprising: optionally at least one sonication step and at least one step of incubation under vacuum, and preferably followed by one, two or three steps of evacuation, followed by the setting in culture condition of the sprouted seeds obtained during said step of application mechanical treatment. The subject of the invention is a process for producing a recombinant protein comprising a process for the transient transformation of sprouted seeds, according to the first subject of the invention.
