The present invention relates to a biomarker, the NPY1R gene, actinic lentigo, and various applications of this biomarker. In particular, the invention provides a method of characterizing an apparent pigment spot in a human, comprising comparing expression levels in skin samples from said stain and adjacent non-injured skin of the gene. The invention also relates to a prediction method, methods for evaluating the efficacy of a treatment of pigment spots, cosmetic methods for treating pigment spots, as well as various modulators of the gene of the invention and their use. |
