titleOfInvention | CONTINUOUS PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF BORONIC ACIDS AND THEIR DERIVATIVES |
abstract | Continuous process for the preparation of a RB (OH) 2 type boronic acid in which R represents an aliphatic, acyclic or cyclic radical, or an aromatic radical, by the action of a trialkyl borate on an RM type metallation agent ( where M represents an alkali metal) or a Grignard reagent of the R-Mg-X type (where X is chlorine or bromine), said process being carried out in a system comprising a first piston reactor and a second piston reactor, set in series, the two piston reactors being preferably of cylindrical shape, said piston reactors being provided with a mechanical means of axial stirring, and in which process: a reaction intermediate RM or R-Mg is prepared in the first piston reactor; -X by metallation reaction between a solution comprising at least one compound carrying the cyclic residue R, in particular an aliphatic, acyclic or cyclic compound, or an aromatic compound, and a metallation agent; at least one solution comprising said R-M or R-Mg-X reaction intermediate and at least one solution comprising a trialkyl borate is preferably continuously and separately, preferably at one end of the second reactor; and subjecting the reaction mixture contained in the second reactor to axial mechanical agitation; o is injected into the second reactor, continuously, downstream of the inlet of the reaction medium from the outlet of the first reactor (for example about halfway through the reaction mixture in the second reactor or at the outlet of the second reactor ), an aqueous solution optionally comprising an acid, such as a mineral acid, and preferably a halogenated hydric acid, for hydrolyzing the reaction mixture and obtaining said cyclic boronic acid RB (OH) 2. |
