abstract This device for characterizing the operation of a water-retaining apparatus comprises a test line (10) having a mounting section (13) for an apparatus to be tested, means (12) for injecting, in the mounting section , an airflow loaded with dust and water droplets, measuring means for determining the size distribution of dust particles and water retained in said mounting section and the amount of water retained by the apparatus, and computing means receiving the measured distribution of dust particles and water and the amount of water delivered by said measuring means to derive a level of dust and water retention of the apparatus.
