titleOfInvention SCINTILLATOR FOR THE DETECTION OF NEUTRONS AND / OR PHOTONS GAMMA AND DETECTOR
abstract The invention relates to a scintillator for the detection of neutrons and / or gamma photons, characterized in that it comprises a structure consisting of two different fluorescent solid materials, one of the fluorescent solid materials being able to produce a fluorescent light of short relaxation time and the other fluorescent solid material being able to produce a fluorescence light of long relaxation time, the two materials being arranged so that a neutron or a gamma photon which enters the scintillator follows a trajectory the along which a first material alternates with a second material, a distance on which a neutron or a gamma photon moves, along said path, in the first or in the second material being substantially equal to or greater than a path of a recoil proton resulting from the detection of a neutron in the first or second material and very significantly lower to a reversing electron path that results from the detection of a gamma photon in the first or second material.
