titleOfInvention | LIQUID ELECTROLYTE CAPACITOR SEALS HERMETICALLY. |
abstract | The invention discloses a liquid electrolyte capacitor comprising a lid assembly (50) hermetically sealed. The cover assembly (50) particularly comprises a cover (52), for example made of titanium, defining an internal orifice. A conductive tube (56) having a size and shape for accommodating an anode wire may extend through the orifice. An insulating material is also provided in the orifice to form a hermetic seal, such as between the conductive tube (56) and the cover (52). The cover assembly (50) also includes a liquid seal (70) formed of a sealing material The liquid seal (70) covers a substantial portion of the bottom surface of the cover (52) and the seal to limit contact with any electrolyte leaking from the housing. To obtain this surface coverage, the sealing material is generally fluidifiable, can be heated during the manufacture of the capacitor and flow into small cracks which otherwise would remain uncoated |
