abstract The invention relates to the use of a homogenisation valve consisting of a valve, a shock ring and a seat for the preparation by high-pressure valve technology of a nanosuspension of a solid pharmaceutical active ingredient, characterized in that the material constituting the valve, the seat and possibly the shock ring or the outer surface of said elements comprises as major component the silicon nitride sintered or hot pressed. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of a nanosuspension of a solid pharmaceutical active ingredient by high pressure homogenization technology of the valve type consisting in: ▪ pumping a dispersion of the active ingredient in a liquid phase to which at least one stabilizer / surfactant has been added; ▪ compressing said dispersion at a pressure ranging from 100 to 2000 bar; ▪ Relax said dispersion through a homogenizing valve consisting of a valve, a seat and a shock ring, characterized in that the material constituting the valve, the shock ring and possibly the seat or the outer surface of said elements comprises as major component the silicon nitride sintered or hot pressed.
