titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR PREDICTING A HIGH-RATE VESICO URETERAL REFLUX IN CHILDREN WITH A FIRST FEBRILE URINARY INFECTION |
abstract | The present invention relates to a method for predicting high-grade vesicoureteral reflux in a patient. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method for predicting a high grade vesico-ureteral reflux in a patient comprising the steps of measuring serum concentration of procalcitonin in a biological sample, assigning a procalcitonin value, searching for the dilation of one or both of the ureters shown on a renal ultrasound image, the assignment of an ultrasound value and the combination of these values by means of two mathematical equations with the definition of a threshold above which the patient is considered at risk for vesicoureteral reflux. The present invention also relates to a kit comprising means for measuring the concentration of procalcitonin and means for measuring the section of the ureter. |
