The rare earth phosphate (Ln) of the invention, Ln representing at least one rare earth selected from cerium and terbium, or lanthanum in combination with at least one of the two rare earths mentioned above, has a crystalline structure monazite type with a potassium content of not more than 6000 ppm. The phosphate is obtained by precipitation of a rare earth chloride with a constant pH of less than 2 and then calcining at least 700 ° C and redispersion in hot water. The invention also relates to a phosphor obtained by calcination at at least 1000 ° C. of the phosphate. |
