A method for oligomerizing an olefinic hydrocarbon feedstock comprising contacting said feedstock with a catalyst comprising a silica-alumina, the mass content of silica of said catalyst being between 5 and 95% by weight, said catalyst being prepared by a process comprising at least: a) mixing at least one partially acid-soluble aluminum compound with either at least one fully soluble silicic compound in the reaction mixture or a combination of at least one silicic compound and at least one aluminum compound, said silicic and aluminic compounds being completely soluble in the reaction mixture, so as to form a solid precursor of said catalyst; hydrothermal treatment, for a period of at least 3 hours, of the solid resulting from said step; at). |
