abstract The invention relates to a method for selecting an active ingredient for modifying the shape of the keratinous fibers, comprising the following steps: a) culturing mammalian cells; b) adding the test substance to the mammalian cell culture; ) after incubation, assaying the amount of glycosaminoglycans (GAG) in mammalian cells or in the culture medium of mammalian cells, d) comparing the amount of GAG measured in step c with that measured from a control culture of mammalian cells obtained under the same conditions, but in the absence of test substance, e) selection of the substances for which the amount of GAG is modified by at least a factor of 0.5 relative to the quantity measured in control culture.It also relates to the cosmetic use of an asset thus selected as an agent for modifying the shape of the keratinous fibers, and a cosmetic process involving this agent.
