The present invention relates to the use, in a cosmetic composition or for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition, of an effective amount of active principle derived from corn (Zea mays L.); the active ingredient, or the composition containing it, being intended to activate cytochrome c. Preferably, the active ingredient is derived from the hydrolysis of maize proteins and contains mainly polypeptides or peptides. It can be used alone or in combination with at least one other active ingredient. The invention also relates to the use of a cosmetic composition intended to stimulate the functions of mitochondria and to increase the cellular energy level. The invention also relates to a cosmetic treatment method intended to protect the skin and the integuments from external aggressions and to fight against skin aging. |
