abstract The invention relates to polymerizable diazonium salts, their manufacturing process and uses. The diazonium salts of the invention have redox and absorption properties in the visible range and have the following general formula (I): [X < x +> LnDd Em (N2 <+>) p] [(B <->) p + x] in which X is a transition metal, preferably chosen from ruthenium (Ru), osmium (Os), iron (Fe), cobalt, (Co), and iridium (Ir); x is an integer from 1 to 5 inclusive; L is a ligand selected from pyridine, bipyridine, terpyridine, phenanthroline, phenylpyridine, and mixtures thereof; n is an integer from 1 to 5, inclusive; D is a saturated or unsaturated C1-C5 alkyl spacer compound; d = 0 or 1; E is an aromatic or polyaromatic spacer compound, which may contain one or more heteroatoms; m is an integer from 0 to 5 inclusive; p is an integer; and B is a counterion. The diazonium salts of the invention find application in the fields of biology, electronics, optical components, and in particular for the preparation of metallic complex conductive films on conductive surfaces of type-n.
