The invention relates to an in vitro method for screening candidate compounds for the preventive or curative treatment of acne, comprising determining the ability of a compound to modulate the expression or activity of C-4 methyl sterol oxidase (SC4MOL), as well as the use of modulators of the expression or the activity of this enzyme for the treatment of acne or skin disorders associated with hyperseborrhoea.The invention also relates to methods of diagnosis or prognosis in vitro of these pathologies. |
