abstract The present invention provides non-therapeutic methods useful for facilitating smoking cessation. The non-therapeutic methods of the invention generally involve applying an electric current to the subject in the vicinity of two or more acupuncture points selected from acupuncture points in or on the subject's arms and hands. Appropriate points include the Hegu acupuncture point (LI-4), a hand point on the side opposite the Hegu acupuncture point, the Wai guan acupuncture point (SJ-5), and the point Nei guan acupuncture (PC-6).
