| abstract |
The invention relates to the partial or total inversion of the configuration of an enantiomer of an amine wherein the nitrogen of the amino group is directly bonded to an asymmetric carbon atom which carries a hydrogen atom.The process consists of reacting a thiol with said amine, in an inert organic solvent or in an aqueous medium, in the presence of a radical initiator, the thiol being such that the energy of the CH bond of the asymmetric carbon of the amine is of the same order of magnitude than the energy of the SH bond of the thiol.Applications: racemization of an enantiomer; obtaining a given enantiomer from the racemic or from the reverse enantiomer. |
