abstract The present invention relates to the field of the quantification of RNAs in a biological sample, in particular the quantification of messenger RNAs encoding cytokines. The present invention allows absolute quantification of the levels of messenger RNAs of human cytokines present in a biological sample, by a real-time RT-PCR technique based on the use of highly specific primers, the detection of amplifications by incorporation of 'a fluorescent intercalator, and absolute quantification using internal RNA standards (housekeeping genes) and external (standard RNA reference range). The present invention relates to the simultaneous quantification of different RNAs, under the same experimental conditions.
