An article (10, 110) of ceramic matrix composite material (CMC) comprising multiple layers (12, 112), and method of making the article (10, 110). Each layer (12, 112) is constituted by a ceramic matrix material (22, 122) containing a first reinforcing material (20, 120) coated with a release agent which promotes slippage between the first reinforcing material (20, 120) and the ceramic matrix material (22, 122). The layers (12, 112) are superimposed so that the layers of each pair of adjacent layers each define an interface (14, 114) therebetween. A second reinforcing material (16, 116) physically connects the adjacent pairs of the layers (12, 112) from one edge to the other of the interfaces (14, 114) therebetween. A stronger bond exists between the second reinforcing material (16, 116) and the ceramic matrix material (22, 122) than between the first reinforcing material (20, 120) and the ceramic matrix material (22, 122). , 122). |
