titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF ALKYL 2-BROMOALCANOATES
abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of alkyl 2-bromoalkanoates which consists in carrying out in a first step the selective bromination of an alkanoic acid in the presence of its acid halide and then in a second step the esterification of the. 2-bromoalkanoic acid thus obtained by means of an alcohol in the presence of an acid catalyst, by removing from the esterification medium the water formed by stripping by means of the said alcohol used while simultaneously introducing continuously into the said reaction medium esterification, the alcohol resulting from the parallel distillation of the stripped mixture and of a water-alcohol mixture prepared initially.
