| abstract |
The invention provides colorized flame retardants which comprise an uncoloured or very faintly colored flame retardant composition and dye, and methods of making and using them. The colorant is an aqueous dispersion, paste or suspension which comprises an insoluble non-fugitive pigment, for example red iron oxide or titanium dioxide. The pigment in the form of an aqueous dispersion is added to the uncolored or very faintly colored flame retardant composition at a time close to the release of the flame retardant on the food. Accordingly, a user is in control of the type and amount of colorant added to the flame retardant composition. |
