abstract | The invention relates to addition-esterification reaction products of a 2,2-bis (hydroxymethyl) alkanoic acid on a glycidyl monoester of alkanoic acid, which products can be used to manufacture paints, inks, glues, etc. ., solvent-free or low-solvent, and exhibit excellent characteristics of compatibility with curing agents and of curing ability. The invention also relates to a process for preparing these products, in which an acid is melted. 2, 2-bis (hydroxymethyl) alkanoic acid before mixing it with a glycidyl monoester so that an addition reaction of the carboxy group to the glycidyl group takes place selectively. The product thus obtained contains almost no undesirable high molecular weight components. The invention further relates to curable compositions which contain such a product. |
