titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR PREHEATING RAIL END OF RAILWAYS PRIOR TO THEIR MUTUAL WELDING BY PROVIDING MOLTEN METAL, AND DEVICE FOR CARRYING OUT SAID METHOD
abstract The present invention relates to the preheating of the railway rail end pieces prior to their mutual welding by casting a molten filler metal in a space which they define between them. The end pieces (6) are preheated so as to bring them, at the level of the shoe (36) of the rails (1), to a temperature higher than the temperature at which they are brought to the level of the mushroom (34), but lower than a determined critical temperature. For this purpose, preferably, an upward flow of hot gases is created in said space (8), from the level of the shoe (36) to the level of the mushroom (34), in particular by means of burners (141, 142). introduced into pipes (19, 20) for raising the filler metal.
