abstract | The invention relates to a process for softening on a fixed bed of petroleum distillates, using a halogenated metal phthalocyanine as a catalyst, and comprising impregnating the catalyst on a bed of activated carbon by circulating an alcoholic alkaline solution of the catalyst through the bed. of coal until a colorless solution from the bed is obtained in the effluent, by passing the petroleum distillate through said catalytic bed loaded with coal as well as air or oxygen at a certain temperature and under a certain pressure, with a certain hourly space velocity of the liquid, with continuous or intermittent injection of an alkaline solution such as sodium hydroxide at a certain concentration, to obtain the desired petroleum distillates with a low mercaptan content. In general, the alkaline solution used is chosen from methanolic and ethanolic solutions of sodium hydroxide. The catalyst of the halogenated metal phthalocyanine type used is chosen from dichlorinated cobalt phthalocyanine and dibrominated cobalt phthalocyanine. The petroleum fraction used is chosen from diesel, kerosene, and FCC gasoline. |
