abstract | To manufacture pellets based on green uranium oxide, a powder based on uranium dioxide, optionally comprising a fraction of plutonium dioxide and a low content of U3 O8 , is compressed in a matrix whose area of compression has at least one flared fraction, between two punches having different bearing surfaces and exerting different pressures. The pressure exerted by the punch having the smallest bearing surface is higher and the pressing conditions are designed so that the green pellet has an H/D ratio, between the height and the diameter, not exceeding 0.6 . |
