The present invention relates to the identification of a new family of CTL genes (Choline Transporter Like), in particular of hCTL1 and hCTL2, involved in the metabolism and / or transport of choline in cells such as cells of the intestinal tract, nerve cells, including motor neurons, sensory neurons, neurons in the dorsal nucleus of the spinal cord, and oligodendrocytes. The invention opens up new perspectives, in particular for the treatment of familial dysautonomia and Tangier's disease. More generally, the identification of CTL genes allows the development of new strategies for the treatment of diseases of the nervous system, in particular neurodegenerative and demyelinating diseases, preferably Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Huntington's disease. |
