CLONING, EXPRESSION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF THE SPG4 GENE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MOST FREQUENT FORM OF DOMESTIC AUTOSOMIC SPASTIC PARAPLEGIA |
abstract |
The invention relates to the identification and characterization of SPG4 gene encoding spastin, and some of its mutations responsible for the most common form of autosomal dominant familial spastic paraplegia (PSP), cloning and characterization of its cDNA as well as the corresponding polypeptides. The invention also relates to vectors, transformed cells and transgenic animals as well as diagnostic methods and methods for selecting a chemical or biochemical compound capable of interacting directly or indirectly with a polypeptide according to the invention. |
