abstract | A method for testing the ability of an iontophoresis reservoir electrode (10) to deliver a drug comprises providing an iontophoresis reservoir electrode (10) with a contact surface (12) having a some form, a suitable electrical connection (14) and a hydrated absorbent reservoir (16) containing ionized drug. The method further includes providing a further electrode (18) operating at a pre-selected polarity opposite to the pre-selected polarity of the drug reservoir electrode (10) and operating work of a separation medium (22) positioned between the electrodes (10) and (18) having the property of allowing the passage therein of ions of a charge. It also comprises the application of a sufficient electric potential between the iontophoresis reservoir electrodes (10) and (18), so that a current flows through the separation medium (22) for a time chosen at the same time. 'advance and then involves determining the amount of ionizable drug present in the electrode. |
