The subject of the invention is a process for the preparation of a crosslinked, biocompatible, sterile, non-toxic collagen material with a controlled rate of biodegradation in vivo. It includes subjecting a collagen component in the wet state, either to beta radiation or to gamma radiation. The collagen material obtained is biodegradable in a few days to several weeks depending on the type of irradiation used. |
