titleOfInvention OPTICAL COMPONENT BASED ON SEMICONDUCTOR OPTICAL AMPLIFIERS WITH A REDUCED NUMBER OF INDEPENDENT ELECTRODES
abstract The invention relates to an optical component based on semiconductor optical amplifiers in which the number of independent electrodes is reduced. The component comprises different regions (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) having the same vertical structure in which an active waveguide (20) is buried between lower and upper buffer layers. These regions each comprise lower and upper electrodes (10, E2, E4) in order to inject equal or different current density values therein. This component is characterized in that at least one (10) of said electrodes covers several regions (1, 3, 5) and has a distributed resistivity which is adjusted according to the region considered.
