The subject of the present invention is a process for the preparation of a composition based on TiO2 useful as an opacifying agent comprising mixing with an aqueous dispersion of TiO2, an aqueous dispersion of at least one inorganic spacer, under conditions such that the two mineral species come together in mixed mineral flocs in which the TiO2 particles are globally spaced from each other by particles and/or aggregates of the spacer. It also relates to a composition based on TiO2 and SiO2 characterized in that the particles of TiO2 and SiO2 are arranged therein in the form of mixed mineral flocs based on TiO2 and SiO2 in which the particles of TiO2 are globally isolated from each other by aggregates of said silica and its use as an opacifying agent in particular in the paper industry. |
