The invention relates to a method for the isomerisation of aromatic compounds containing 8 carbon atoms per molecule in the presence of a catalyst comprising at least one zeolite of structure type EUO, at least partly in acid form, at least one binder, at least a metal of group VIII of the periodic table of elements, said zeolite comprising silicon and at least one element T selected from the group formed by aluminum, iron, gallium and boron, with a global Si / T atomic ratio between 5 and 100 inclusive, characterized in that said catalyst is shaped, the dispersion of said group VIII metal in said catalyst being between 50% and 100% inclusive and the macroscopic distribution coefficient of said group VIII element being between 0, 7 and 1, 3 inclusive, the catalyst having a mechanical strength such that the value of crushing in bed is greater than 0.7 MPa. |
