abstract | The invention relates to processes for obtaining polyfluorocarboxylic acids and their salts of general formula: (CF DRAWING IN BOPI) in which RF is a perfluorinated group, linear or branched, containing from 4 to 18 carbon atoms, n is equal to 2, 3 or 11, M represents a hydrogen, sodium or potassium atom, R can be an alkyl group containing from 1 to 18 carbon atoms optionally substituted, an aryl or aralkyl radical optionally substituted, an allyl radical , methallyl or propargyl, a polyoxyethyl group, a 2-oxoalkyl group R "COCH2 - (R" can be a biphenyl group substituted by an alkyl group containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or an aralkyl radical or a nitrile function), a COOH group, a polyfluorinated group RF (CH2) 2 NHC (O) CH2- or an RF (CH2) n CR '(COOM) - (CH2) m-2 - group (with m - 2 is equal to 4.5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, or 14 and n is equal to 2, 3 or 11) and R 'is a hydrogen atom or a g roup COOM with M having the same meanings as before. As substituents optionally present on the alkyl, aryl or aralkyl radicals, mention may be made of hydroxy, mercapto, oxo or carboxylic groups.
