abstract The present invention relates to a method for treating gaseous effluents charged with volatile pollutant compounds by reaction between said volatile pollutant compounds and a non-equilibrium thermodynamic plasma in which the volatile pollutant compounds are introduced between at least two electrodes (6, 7) fed with alternating high voltage and are passed through plasmas generated between each of these electrodes and at least one counter-electrode (8, 9) connected to the earth. The invention also relates to a reactor for carrying out said method.
