abstract |
The invention relates to an interpenetrating polymer network comprising a crosslinked polyphenylsiloxane and a crosslinked polymethacrylate. The crosslinked polyphenylsiloxane can be formed by a condensation reaction of an alpha, omega-dihydroxypolyphenylsiloxane with a tri- or tetra-functional organosilane crosslinking agent in the presence of a catalyst or by a hydrosilylation reaction of an alpha, omega -divinylpolyphenylsiloxane with a crosslinking agent containing Si-H groups in the presence of a catalyst. The polyphenylsiloxane is preferably polymethylphenylsiloxane and the polymethacrylate is preferably polymethyl or benzyl methacrylate. A method of preparing the network is also described. |
