The invention relates to a process for producing acrylic acid from propane and gaseous oxygen. It relates to a process for producing acrylic acid by a catalytic vapor phase oxidation reaction, which comprises carrying out the reaction with a catalyst of a metal oxide containing the metal elements Mo, V, Sb and A (A denoting at least one element selected from the group formed by Nb, Ta, Sn, W, Ti, Ni, Fe, Cr and Co). The metal oxide preferably contains Mo, V, Sb and A in a proportion represented by the following empirical formula (2): MoVi Sbj Ak (2) i, j and k each being between 0.001 and 3.0, and the amount of oxygen contained in the catalyst is fixed by the valences of the elements Mo, V, Sb and A. Application to the manufacture of acrylic acid. |
