abstract | These polymers consist of reaction products of at least one maleic anhydride (I), of at least one compound (II) having at least one -NH2 function and at least one other function: -OH, -NH2, -NH- , -COOH or -COOR ** 3, (R ** 3 = C1 -C5 alkyl) and at least one compound (III): polyols, mono- or polyfunctional epoxies and polyisocyanates; (II) having first reacted with (I) to open the maleic anhydride rings, inter alia to form maleamic acid functions by opening of these rings by the NH 2 function of (II), said maleamic acid functions then having been at least partially closed by heating in maleimide cycles; the maleimides thus formed having reacted with (III) and / or with (IV) at least one polyacid and / or one cyclic anhydride, added to the reaction medium after opening of (I) by (II), and the polymer chain having been formed by polycondensation and / or polyaddition reactions having brought into play (III) and (IV), and / or the excess of anhydride (I) if there would have remained anhydride (I) in excess after opening of (I) by (II), and the aforementioned non-cyclized products also entering into the composition of the chain.
