abstract | New high energy density hydrocarbon polymers of the general formula: - {CR = CR (CH2) x -A- (CH2) x -CR = CR [- (CH2) y -CR = CR] z} - in which A represents at least one cage unit and the identical or different R substituents represent a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbyl residue, x and y being able to take all the integer values 0, 1, 2, 3. The cage unit is for example cuban diyl, homocuban diyl. Method for obtaining these polymers, characterized in that a diene is prepared from a derivative of a cage molecule and that it is polymerized and copolymerized using an olefin metathesis catalyst, the diene having the formula: RHC = CR- (CH2) xA- (CH2) x-CR = CHR. The invention also relates to the above diene as a new product and to a diene preparation from a compound Z- (CH 2) x -A- (CH2) x -Z, wherein Z is halogen, said compound reacting with an organometallic compound. |
