titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR PURIFICATION OF ACETIC ACID
abstract The invention relates to a method for purifying acetic acid. The process is characterized in that it comprises the introduction (line 1) of an aqueous solution of acetic acid feedstock having an acetic acid concentration of between 10 and 50% by mass, into an extraction column ( 2); the introduction of an extraction medium (line 3) containing isopropyl acetate in an amount of 0.6 to 3.0 times, by mass, the amount of the stock solution in such a way that the extraction medium is brought into contact with the loading solution; extracting acetic acid into the extraction medium; separating the extraction medium containing acetic acid from the extraction residue (line 5); introducing the extraction medium into an azeotropic distillation column (6); the separation by azeotropic distillation with water of the isopropyl acetate contained in the extraction medium from the head of the azeotropic distillation column (6); condensing the distillate from the head of the azeotropic distillation column (6) (line 7) to separate the distillate into a water-poor phase which is rich in isopropyl acetate and a water-rich phase; recycling at least a fraction of the water-poor phase in the extraction column (2) as extraction medium; and recovering acetic acid (19), which has thus been dehydrated and purified from the bottom of the azeotropic distillation column (6).
