The composition of the alloy for such a jacket is such that hard particles form therein in the form of fine primary crystals of silicon and intermetallic phases. Following the shaping, in particular by spraying from the bath and extrusion, the finishing and lapping of the bearing surface of the liner, the hard particles embedded in the bearing surface are released or stripped by a mechanical lapping operation (honing ) using felt strips (16) having an externally cylindrical shape and a suspension (23) of silicon carbide particles in a lapping oil. Applicable to internal combustion engines and other machines with reciprocating piston (s). |
