titleOfInvention Separation method by simulated moving bed chromatography with correction of dead volume by flow rate increase.
abstract A simulated moving bed separation process is described which corrects the disturbances in the compositions of an extract (EA), or of a raffinate (RB) due to the dead volume introduced by at least one pump (P) or a recycling compressor. a liquid, supercritical or gaseous mixture in a closed loop of columns. The method is characterized in that the flow rate of the flow-regulated recirculation pump or compressor is increased by an appropriate value each time that either the extract withdrawal current (EA) is passed. either that of the raffinate (RB), as the case may be, from a position immediately prior to a position immediately after each of the dead volumes of the loop throughout the time that the extract or, as the case may be, the raffinate remains in the position immediately after the dead volume, and then the flow rate of the recycling pump or compressor is reduced when the extract or raffinate withdrawal passes from the position immediately after the dead volume to the following position, so that said flow rate returns to the value that would have been applied if the dead volume had been neglected. Application to the separation of aromatic hydrocarbons with 8 carbon atoms.
