abstract A color picture tube composed of a screen and an electron gun in a coplanar arrangement for generating and directing three aligned electron beams, comprising a central beam and two outer beams, following distinct paths towards the screen. The electron gun includes three cathodes (34) disposed within the cathode supports and a set of electrodes longitudinally spaced from the cathodes (34). The cathode supports and the electrodes being fixed on insulating support rods arranged face to face. Each of the two outer cathode supports (80) having a main part (82) and a support part (84) cantilevered substantially perpendicular to the main part (82). At least one stiffening member (92) is located between the main part (82) and the support part (84) of each outer cathode support to immobilize the support part (84) during operation of the tube, to maintain the longitudinal spacing between the cathodes (34) and the first electrode of the set of electrodes.
