titleOfInvention | Process for removing sulfate ions from saline solutions |
abstract | The present invention relates to a method for separating sulfate ions from brine solutions, comprising the steps of (i) contacting the brine with a zirconium compound, (ii) separating into a sulphate and compound depleted solution. zirconium on which the sulphate ions are adsorbed; (iii) sulphate desorption by treating the zirconium compound obtained in step (ii) at a basic pH; (iv) separating into a basic aqueous solution enriched in sulfates and a zirconium compound substantially free of sulfate ions; characterized in that the zirconium compound is hydrated zirconium hydroxide in the form of an undried gelatinous precipitate. The invention also relates to the gelatinous precipitate. |
