abstract The invention relates to single-stranded nucleotide fragments belonging to a variable region of the 23S ribosomal RNA of species of the Mycobacterium genus, chosen from the fragments having the nucleotide sequences of 23S RNA consisting of the nucleotides respectively: (CF DRAWING IN BOPI) and their complementary sequences. The invention further relates to probes, primers whose sequences belong to those of the fragment of the invention, a reagent and a method for identifying the species of mycobacteria.
