abstract The present invention relates to polyiodinated compounds of a single molecular weight having an iodine molecular concentration of greater than about 20% by weight, especially greater than about 30% by weight, having at least 9 iodine atoms and having a higher molecular weight. at 2000 and less than about 50,000, especially greater than 2000 and less than about 20,000, characterized in that they possess either a zero total electrical charge or at least two anionic charges and that they persist in the vascular compartment at a value equal to at least about 30% by weight of the dose injected into a subject five minutes after intravascular administration in said subject.
