titleOfInvention Process for the synthesis of polyamides.
abstract Process for the synthesis of polyamides by polycondensation in a closed reactor of one or more dicarboxylic acids with a diamino compound containing at least 60 mol% of m-xylylene diamine, in which, all the stoichiometrically necessary quantity of diamino compound is rapidly added to the polycondensation reaction in contact with the molten acid, the temperature of the reaction mixture is raised to a value above the melting point of the polyamide produced, the pressure is allowed to rise only to a value sufficient to avoid caking of the reaction mixture and a substantial loss of diamine compound and, at the end of the reaction, the reaction mixture is expanded and the polyamide formed is recovered.
