titleOfInvention Method of reinforcing the surface of a moisture-sensitive glass article and obtained reinforced article
abstract The invention relates to a method for reinforcing a surface of a moisture sensitive glass article, characterized in that it comprises (A) contacting the surface to be reinforced with an aqueous solution of a acid and the hydrolysis product of a silane comprising both hydrolyzable groups bonded to silicon and a functional group insensitive to said acid, then (B) bringing the surface to be reinforced into contact with an aqueous alkaline silicate solution of sodium and / or potassium, and (C) drying and curing the coating applied to the glass surface as a result of steps (A) and (B). Application to the production of couplers for optical fibers and composite lenses.
